The Irving Arts Center in partnership with the National Geographic Museum in Washington D.C.Presents Peruvian Gold, and will showcase extraordinary objects from Peru's pre-Inca heritage. A full schedule of free events is offered along with the exhibit.

Event Details

Dr. Kimberly Jones, Ph.D., Assistant Curator of the Arts of the Americas at the Dallas Museum of Art presents a free lecture. Jones will focus on ancient Andean narigueras (nose ornaments) and their variations in size, form, media, and iconography. Dr. Jones has extensive knowledge of pre-Columbian art and architecture, having conducted archaeological fieldwork and laboratory analysis in Peru over the past ten years. She was previously curator at the University of Texas at Austin of the Art and Art History collection, as well as lecturer on art and art history at the University of Texas at Austin and Southwestern University. 2 p.m.
