2018 Summer Games: Volunteer at Cycling

Potential Volunteer Assignments:

Assistant Timer - Times the competitors in events. Follows instructions given by head timing official. Does not anticipate the finish of the race; stops watch when the competitor's torso crosses the finish line. Communicates all scratches to the finish-line stat personnel.
Course Marshall - Keeps cycling venue clear. Observes races in progress for any violations or accidents. Reports any violations or accidents to the cycling director.
Runner - Runs times to stat technician.
Staging Escort - Escorts participants from the staging area to the starting line and keeps the participants in the correct order. Assists the starting line stager in readying the participants for the start of the race.
Stat Assistant - Assista Stat Technician in recording times and places on heat sheets and in setting up athlets in accordance with "rabbit" rule. 
Attire: Please dress for comfort and mobility.  Wear comfortable closed toe shoes - you will be on your feet most of the time. No short-shorts or flip flops allowed.
Parking: General parking is limited available at the venue.
AGE ELIGIBILITY FOR VOLUNTEERS:
* Youth 15 years and older can volunteer by themselves.
* 8-14 year old youths must be accompanied by parent, guardian, or chaperone.
* 7 years and younger are not given volunteer assignments, but are welcomed and encouraged to be cheerleaders as long as they are accompanied by a parent, guardian, or chaperone.  Please do not 'purchase' a ticket for this position.
* 8-14 year olds in a group situation need a 4 to 1 ratio-meaning one adult (18 years old or older) for every four children.  These groups usually include scout troops, school classes, church groups, etc.
For security purposes, please make sure to bring a current photo ID with you to the volunteer check-in area.
