For any large, American metropolis to be truly great in this book, it's got to have a vibrant and eclectic live music scene; places you can go to kick back with a pint and discover some amazing, largely unknown band and, on the other side of the spectrum, venues you can hit up for all the big-name touring acts rolling through town.  Luckily, Dallas has the best of both these worlds with an assortment of music venues for all tastes.  Here's five of our favorites.

Granada Theater - The Granada is one of the oldest theaters in Dallas and home to some truly great live music.  Catch a slew of big-name touring acts as they roll through this historic theater and enjoy live music in Dallas the way it's supposed to be enjoyed.

Palladium Ballroom -  The Palladium Ballroom is another concert hall in Dallas situated for big touring acts that roll through town.  Past concerts have included the Flaming Lips, Thievery Corporation, Talib Kweli and many more.  Enjoy food and drinks from the Studio Bar and Grill as well while you enjoy the concert.

Trees - Trees is, arguably, the best venue for rock in a club scene in Dallas.  It's no huge concert hall, but definitely isn't a tiny dive either.  Rock history is embedded in this place.  Legend has it Kurt Cobain got in a pretty nasty fight with a bouncer when Nirvana came to Trees in their heyday and notable rock acts like the Flaming Lips and many more have played there.

Double Wide - The Double Wide is the premier neighborhood dive and music club in Dallas.  Order up a tall drink and relax to some great live music, including local and national acts, in Dallas.  Rock, country, blues;  all the great genres are featured at Double Wide on many nights throughout the week.

The Loft - The Loft is billed as the "sexiest event space in Dallas."  Enjoy a full ball, huge stage, outdoor patio, and many more amenities that make this club great.  Catch some of the best underground and top name acts at this premier music club.
